I want to explain this photo.
It was hard, probably one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. Two days ago I competed… No, scratch that. Participated In “Warrior Dash” a self described “3 mile race from hell”.  I had no Idea it would change my life completely.
The morning of, We arrive to the random middle of nowhere place where the race is being held, and Immediately I am intimidated. Almost everywhere I look there are shirtless guys, all more fit than me and my brother… pounding there chests in anticipation. I immediately though “What the hell did I get myself into”
After being really nervous and getting sick in one of the numerous port a potties around the course, it was time for us to start.
We are off, A long stretch of just plain running is first… and I am fine with it, I have been training somewhat for this. I didn’t just show up and decide to do it, I was prepared. We round the first corner and I see our first obstacle… A mud pit, waist deep… the length of a football field. it wasn’t as hard as I thought. But it was hard..
But nothing beat the wall.
The first few obstacles were easy, But as soon as I saw the giant wall with nothing but a rope hanging down my heart sank, all of the athletic kids were climbing right over and I was terrified, all I kept thinking about were the douche bags in High school. I ran up to the wall and contemplated skipping it, walking around. When one of the people I would assume was an asshole walked up.
He patted me on the shoulder and said, “you got this, I know you do, You can do anything”
A complete stranger, someone who I had been judging almost the whole race, I felt shitty. I felt like a total asshole.
“I know you can”
I grabbed the rope and literally Flew over the wall, the whole time the stranger cheered me on.
The rest of the race I noticed everyone helping each other, lending a hand, words of encouragement.
This is what the world needs.
This picture is of me and my brother, we are in no way shape or form in the best of shape, but we finished the race.
And I am damn proud.
If you are interested in any of these races, just look them up. It is honestly a life changing experience.
